Personal Development
Our school vision is ‘building for successful futures’. We are committed to empowering our children and young people to be happy, confident, independent and safe individuals who are equipped for their futures. We provide a range of opportunities and experiences to encourage our children and young people to be as independent as possible, to build their confidence in accessing and engaging with their community and to promote ambitious personal and career aspirations.
This is achieved through the following, though this is not an exhaustive list:
- Planned content delivered within our core curriculum offer, including Life Skills, Cooking for Life, Ready 2 Go, Zones of Regulation and PSHE.
- A careers programme which develops pupil’s employability skills, opportunities for work experience and a growing knowledge of the world of work.
- Regular opportunities for off-site learning, including curriculum trips, accessing the local community and providing pupils with a range of life experiences.
- Visitors to school to enhance the curriculum offer and provide real life experiences and interactions with people outside of our school community.
- Opportunities for play and social interaction during break times, modelled and supported by staff using our playtime boxes and outdoor equipment.
- Development of Cultural Capital where we provide pupils with Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural experiences in line with our school and British values.

Travel Independence Training (TITAN)
We have partnered with Norfolk County Council’s TITAN (Travel Independence Training across Norfolk) team and are currently delivering the Ready to Go! travel training programme to our students. TITAN offers young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) support to help them to become confident independent travellers.
The Ready to Go! programme is a flexible framework for students from Year 7 onwards and teaches six core modules:
- Pedestrian Skills
- Communication Skills
- Personal Health, Safety and Wellbeing
- Problem-Solving Skills
- Journey Planning Skills
- Journey Practice Skills
The skills that the TITAN training provides have a holistic, positive impact across the whole of the young person’s life. Once completed, TITAN can support our students to transition to independently travelling to and from school or college, where appropriate.
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development
Our school provides a context for spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning and experiences. Pupils will have the opportunity to experience different aspects of society within a clear and consistent moral framework developing mutual respect and tolerance for each other. Our young people are given opportunities to make informed choices to develop leadership skills, to take responsibility and to consider the consequences of their actions now and in the future. These aspects are embedded across the curriculum, recognising and reinforcing core British values and our school values:

The government set out its definition of British values in the ‘Prevent Strategy’. These values include:
