The Local Authority is responsible for all admissions to complex needs schools and information is available from Children’s Services, including the criteria. Admissions to boarding follow the same  process and the need for a boarding placement would be identified at a Statement / EHCP Review.

We currently meet the needs of pupils who have complex learning difficulties and additional needs relating to the autistic spectrum disorder, behavioural difficulties linked to social and emotional needs, speech and language delay, sensory impairments and physical impairment.

We recognise that decisions about school placement are never easy, and we will be happy to meet with parents and show them around the school when professionals have suggested this as a possible way forward. It is important however, that parents recognise the decisions about placements are made by the Local Authority and not the school. Transport is also arranged by the Local Authority but again we are happy to support you with any concerns that you might have.

We invite you and your child to an Admissions Meeting during the Summer Term and arrange a home visit so that we can talk through a range of issues in a less formal setting and get to know you better. Where possible we try to attend the Statement Review at the child’s current school and arrange transition visits. This will depend on the needs of your child and our current pupils.
