About us

Welcome to Fred Nicholson School, where we look forward to working together with you on Building Successful Futures for all our young people. Please take a look at our Values and Ethos under School Info / Our school Community.

We have a collaborative approach and enjoy working in partnership with our families. Setting high expectations, we work to motivate and inspire our young people to be the best they can be through an exciting and innovative curriculum.  We believe you will find us open and easy to communicate with; being solution focused we are always willing to spend time supporting families to achieve a positive outcome. Please take a look at Useful Information for Parents, Carers and Pupils under School Info/ Our School Community where we post information about events and forums outside of school and other helpful information and contacts. There is also a link at the top of the page to our Facebook Group.  This is a Group set up in order to keep Parents and Carers informed about things happening at Fred Nicholson School.

We believe in encouraging our pupils to be part of the decision making and direction of the school and celebrating their contributions through their involvement in discussion groups, the School Council and other structured forums.  Please take a look at our Pupil Voice under School Info / Our School Community to get a view of this.

Orchard is our Specialist County Provision within Fred Nicholson School for 19 pupils with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Complex Needs. These pupils’ needs cannot be met within other specialist or mainstream schools within Norfolk.  Orchard pupils present with 'spiky' profiles of strengths and areas of learning need. Children may also have behaviour which can challenge those around them and could hinder their access to education, meaning they may have struggled to be successful in an alternative provision from other provisions. The work of Orchard is accredited by the National Autistic Society, we are proud to be the only school in Norfolk to achieve this level of specialism. Please click on the Orchard tab at the top of this website for more details about this provision, useful information, news and events.

Please contact us to arrange a tour of the school if you are a parent or professional who wants to know more about us. We highly value our staff and volunteers.  We occasionally have vacancies, so if you would like to be part of this professional, caring and committed team please go to School Info under which you will find Job Vacancies and Volunteering. Thank you for your interest, we look forward to your application.

In the meantime, please look through our website and view some of the photos and reports our young people and staff team have put together for you.   Please look at the Picture Gallery and Newsletters under News and Calendar

If you would like a copy of our Prospectus please contact our School Office.

We look forward to seeing you in school soon.
