Welcome to Fred Nicholson School

Welcome one and all to Fred Nicholson School, where we look forward to working together with you on Building Successful Futures for all our young people.

We offer education to a diverse community with wide ranging complex needs. As an experienced multi-skilled team of nearly 130 we enjoy working in partnership with all our families, supporting both you and your child is important to us. Setting high expectations, we work to motivate and inspire our young people to be the best they can be through an exciting and innovative curriculum.  We believe you will find us open and easy to communicate with; being solution focused we are always willing to spend time supporting families to achieve a positive outcome. We believe in encouraging our pupils to be part of the decision making in and direction of the school and celebrating their contributions through all it’s forms.

Orchard is our specialist county provision within Fred Nicholson School for 19 pupils specifically experiencing autism along with learning difficulties and associated complex needs who have not yet been successful in other specialist or mainstream provisions. The work of Orchard is accredited by the National Autistic Society, we are proud to be the only school in Norfolk to achieve this level of specialism. Please click on the Orchard tab at the top of this website for more details about this provision.

We are also privileged to run a county funded residential element to our offer for up to 28 of our young people. Here we build independence and broaden life experiences through an extended curriculum. Please visit our Treehouse area on the website to find out more.

Please contact us to arrange a tour of the school  or watch our video if you are a parent or professional who wants to know more about us. We look forward to seeing you in school soon.
