Welcome to Fred Nicholson School![]() Fred Nicholson School opened in September 1973 providing 75 places. It is a Special School for pupils who have Complex Learning Difficulties, associated behavioural difficulties and that require a modified curriculum and specialised teaching approaches. The school has expanded over the years to now provide 106 places, of which approximately 26 are boarding places. The school is maintained by Norfolk County Council. The school has achieved a high degree of success over the years, in particular the school was recognised as a school of excellence in September 2001, being awarded Beacon Status at that time. The school has also been awarded the Artsmark Gold Award, the Careers Excellence Award, the Eco Schools Award (twice), the International Schools Award, the Healthy Norfolk Schools Award, the FMSIS financial standards award, the Work Related Award, and the Investors in Families award.
